Gary Ogan

GARY OGAN is a veteran of 47 years in the music business and an Oregon Music Hall of Fame inductee. He remains a persistent hunter in his eternal quest for new music and fresh projects. From his first major label release on Elektra Records in 1972, to his move to Los Angeles in 1977 to sign with Leon Russell’s Paradise Records on the Warner Brothers label, Ogan learned the ropes early on, and never looked back. Touring the U.S. extensively included shows at Radio City Music Hall and the Universal Amphitheater. Gary has literally shared the stage with countless acts like Hollies, Phoebe Snow, John Prine, and Nicolette Larson.

The mid-90’s saw Ogan moving to Nashville, where he signed as a staff songwriter with Sony/ATV Tree who published over 60 of his songs. Since then there’s been the four year stint as drummer in The Darrell Scott Band, the two year stint as producer to Danny O’Keefe, the other two year ongoing stint as keyboardist and drummer in the Portland based Motown tribute band, Kris Deelane And The Hurt, and Gary’s newest passion, his indigenous curiosity. Sparked by his own Cherokee DNA, Ogan’s first such opportunities have included creating and producing music for activists, Winona LaDuke (Ojibwe), and the late John Trudell ( Santee Sioux) and becoming bandleader to The Flying Eagle Band, a Portland based tribute band to the late Kaw/Creek sax legend, Jim Pepper.

As Gary puts it, “Life is good, and I’m a happy man. Let the music play!”
