The Portland Center is pleased to work with a variety of local nonprofits to make the world a better place. We directly provide funds for these groups and encourage our congregation to also donate time and resources.
- Albina Head Start, our neighborhood head start program
- Bradley Angle House, a local domestic violence shelter and associated programs
- Central City Concern, for job and housing opportunities
- Community of Welcoming Congregations, providing information and spiritual counseling to the LGBTQ community. We are one of the 100+ faith communities in Oregon and SW Washington providing a welcoming environment for all.
- Doernbecher Children’s Hospital Foundation, free medical care for children in need
- Dress For Success Oregon, helping women re-enter the workplace
- Helensview High School, a local alternative high school for at-risk youth
- New Avenues For Youth, providing housing and training for at risk youth
- New Thought Prison Ministries, giving Coffee Creek Correctional Facility a weekly “New Thought” experience
- N/NE Business Association, providing mentorship and training for young adults in our neighborhood.
- Oregon Food Bank, our state food assistance program. We run food drives several times throughout the year as well as make financial contributions to OFB.
- Outside In, assistance for homeless youth
- Sisters of the Road, providing food and counseling
- Transition Projects, providing housing and assistance to homeless families
